I Dropped My Baby Weight, but My Husband Still Has His
My husband has always been rail thin. For the eight years I’ve known him, he’s had a lean build with a metabolism that moves faster than the speed of light! He’s the kind of person that can eat whatever he wants, when we wants and not ever gain a pound.
That was the case…until I got pregnant. To my surprise he put on sympathy weight during my pregnancy and grew his own little “pooch.” Over the last year and a half that he’s been a stay-at-home dad, that pooch is slowly turning into a gut! He still has a slender frame (I doubt that will ever change), but this extra “baby” weight he’s carrying has definitely become noticeable.
I’ve been working this year at maintaining my weight loss from last year. I actually weigh less now than I did before I had my daughter and that’s pretty cool. I still have some progress to make in terms of firming and toning, but for the most part, I’m sticking with the idea of staying active to stay healthy – not just to be skinny.
And that’s the part that escapes my husband. He eats like he’s still in his twenties instead of his late thirties!
So I’m pulling the mom card and mandating some changes to the way we eat! I’m about to be on my Michelle Obama up in this piece!
There won’t be anything too drastic (like going vegan or something like that) because I loves me some ice cream! But we will be cutting back on the amount of sweets we eat and junk food that we buy from the store (like greasy, Lay’s potato chips).
There shall be more fruits and veggies had by all!
With the help of my MIL to prepare her meals, my little one gets the nutrition she needs and we give her very little processed foods. I want to model those same habits for me and the hubster, because as she gets older her attitudes and behaviors toward food will come directly from us.
Here’s to a happier, healthier, Wright household!
